FAQ

The more solar panels you have installed, the more energy they’ll be able to generate for your home. The number of solar panels you’ll need will depend on your energy usage, the number of people in your home and the size of your property.

A typical family home using 3500kW/h/year will need a 3-4kWp Solar System. This will need around 20-25m2 of space.

The cost of a solar panel system will vary depending on several factors, such as how many panels are needed, so it’s tough to give an exact price but on the whole, solar panels are around 70% cheaper than they were in 2010.

An average home of 3 people needing a 3-4kWh PV system will cost around £5,000-£6,000. Paying back in around 6 Years.

Once your solar panels have been installed, there are small maintenance checks that you’ll need to do from time to time but, on the whole, solar panel maintenance is fairly minimal.

As with the solar system the cost of batteries will vary depending on several factors, including the size of battery, so it’s tough to give an exact price.

A 5kWh battery system will add around £3,000 to your installation costs.

A battery system and it’s accompanying inverter or solar inverter will typically need space of around 1.5-2m height, 600cm width and 40cm depth.

You’ll also need some space around the inverter for cooling and ventilation.

Most systems are able to be placed outside.

Unfortunately not. As well as the overall weight of the battery (some can be around 120+KG), we are now working to the PAS 63100:2024 document which specifies where a battery system is best placed. Although this is not currently law (due 2026), we feel that working to this adheres to best practice.

More information about the PAS 63100:2024 document can be found on the British Standards website here.
